Current News :
Sumaga Farm Sumaga Farm is a small vocational school to teach life skills to young women from deprived village backgrounds. They are offered a six-month residential course and are taught useful skills, which include sewing, health and hygiene, cooking, animal husbandry and organic gardening.
In response to the Tsunami, Sumaga Farm have recently started an additional day care center for 200 deprived children aged 3½ to 11, but unless they can find additional sources of income, they would be forced to close the whole project down in the next few months, which is where Sri Lanka Child Care come in.
Istutiy We are pleased to be working with Tim Biddiscombe and Rachael Bibby on project Istutiy, a brand new medium term project dedicated to Sri Lankan NGO, Sarvodaya, to meet the educational needs of children in the region.
Project Istutiy will raise funds for, and assist in construction of seven pre-schools in poor rural villages. The selection of recipient villages is dictated wholly by Sarvodaya, allowing for a highly targeted aid effort. |
